Decline Curve Analysis
The article presents decline curve approaches coupled with Kraken programming capabilities in order to forecast reservoir performance
Decline curve analysis consists of a technique widely employed to evaluate the amount of recoverable hydrocarbons in reservoirs. In a context of energy resources demand and oil prices volatility, decline curve approaches are said to be a simple and efficient tool to identify reservoir’s potential as well as to assess the economical viability of a development plan.
This paper aims to provide an overview of decline curves’ mathematical description and techniques commonly applied to forecast reservoir performance. In addition, some curve-plottings using Kraken capabilities are shown in order to exemplify how this powerful management data tool can conduct decline curve studies.
